Central heating

Whatever your central heating or hot water requirements, Drayton and Ellis can provide a solution, from fitting a single radiator, to a multi fuel, fully automated weather compensated system, providing multi zone controlled heating and high performance mains pressure hot water supply.

We fit all types of domestic and light commercial heating and hot water systems

We provide a comprehensive design and installation service for all types of central heating system and all types of property, whether it be a one bedroom flat or a small hotel complex.

Some of the products we offer are;

  • Condensing boilers of all types, combi, system & heat only

  • Heat pumps, air source and ground source

  • Solar panels, thermal & PV

  • Under floor heating, both retrofit and new build

  • High performance and designer radiators

  • High pressure (unvented) hot water systems

  • Thermal stores & multi-fuel integration

  • Heat recovery ventilation systems

  • Intelligent control systems, digital programmable thermostats

  • Thermostatic control valves (TRV’s) for radiators, etc

  • Bespoke system design

Central Heating in detail

The basic principal of a central heating system is to provide space heating for a building, or part of a building, from a central source. At its most basic, this would be a combi (combination) boiler and a small number of radiators controlled by a clock and thermostat. However in many new, high specification, large domestic properties, the system may be heated utilising different energy sources, for example, the primary heat source may be an air source heat pump (ASHP) with additional heat provided by a condensing gas boiler, or possibly a ground source heat pump (GSHP) in conjunction with thermal solar panels.

The options are pretty much infinite, and as the requirements within current building regulations and the needs for heating and hot water in modern properties become more demanding, optimum efficiency and some form of fuel diversity is a good idea. With the likely rapid increase in energy prices it makes good financial sense for the investment in highly efficient heating and hot water systems and controls.

central heating wireless remote controlAs central heating systems become more complex, it is important that the control system fitted as part of it, can handle all the components and achieve maximum efficiency, yet be reasonably accessible and practical for the end user. As a result, we believe that as central heating systems and the component parts become more and more sophisticated, the installation, setup and commissioning of the system becomes more and more important. This is particularly true of heat pumps and other renewable technology products, if they are fitted as if they were just another form of boiler, they will not operate efficiently, or particularly satisfactorily. With our many years experience and progressive approach to modern central heating, we believe that we can come up with an effective, efficient and cost effective design, whatever your requirements or budget.
